The organization’s roots were planted in mid-1996 when Ms. Kamila Sidiqi (founder and Managing Director), started a tailoring training program for more than 150 poor women in her home in Khair-khana Kabul. A team of committed women activists volunteered their support and within two years, most of the trainees were able to open their tailoring shops to support their families. The income level of the trainees increased significantly, and the project produced a deep and long-lasting impact on the life of beneficiaries. Initially, the founder and her team started most of their welfare activities voluntarily with self-contributed funds. The results of the initial welfare activities motivated the founder to officially register the organization to help everyone across the country. Once again, Afghanistan is in the midst of another humanitarian disaster of an unprecedented scale.
